ARNO is an organization for Social Innovation established in the North Macedonian civil landscape in 2013 with special mission of development and implementation of social innovation and promotion of new options and contemporary approaches for society change. As socially innovative organization ARNO has conducted several projects and social initiatives that highlight its commitment, readiness, and ability to innovate to respond to social problems. Immediately after it’s very first project the Organization became recognized as groundbreaking leader in the field of Social Entrepreneurship and national resource for knowledge and inspiration in the field of Responsible Entrepreneurship. It's important to note that In March 2017 ARNO became implementing partner of the UNFPA CO Macedonia for the Youth Programme Component.
ARNO was a KA2 coordinator of a project titled as “Students Today-Responsible Entrepreneurs Tomorrow” that focuses on delivering tailored programs for promotion of Social Entrepreneurship and Corporate Social Responsibility to high school students that are enrolled in the school subject "Entrepreneurship" in the three respective countries (North Macedonia, Croatia and Lithuania).The project was funded by the Erasmus+ Program and it is inspiration for the upgraded application in this KA2 Call. The project has great results and success stories.
ARNO believes in future-oriented leadership and collaborative relationships. ARNO is a member of the National Youth Council of North Macedonia, Y-PEER Macedonia and the Platform for Networking between Civil Society Organizations and Local Authorities.
ARNO is organization with vision, talent, energy and resources to be the creative source for improvement of the communities we live in. As socially innovative organization we are brought to have commitment, readiness, and ability to innovate to respond to social problems. We have organizational values and attitudes that promote and sustain innovation such as expectation of a deep understanding of complex social issues, culture of innovation, market orientation.
ARNO have already implemented relevant projects to the current one and achieved effective results: Regional Project “Philanthropy for Green Business Ideas” (2015-ongoing) PGI is a project of the Western Balkans Program at the Rockefeller Brothers Fund. It aims to stimulate and encourage innovation for green business ideas at the local level by supporting innovative, local sustainable economic development initiatives (small businesses with strong environmental bond, Social Enterprises) Since 2015, the Competition in Macedonia is administered by ARNO. After 4 years of participation Macedonia, in 2015 and 2016 won the regional competition with Macedonian green idea holders. In 2017 Macedonian won 2 green ideas. Throughout the year the wining ideas are monitored and evaluated by ARNO
“Coolinari 2.0- Cooking Classes” (2016- ongoing) With the grant from the Social Impact Award, in 2016, the projects s offers Cooking Classes to promote gastronomy and vocational education united in SE activity, as a response to reducing unemployment and as social intervention that demonstrates how cross-sectorial partnership can effectively contribute to the social impact. For the first time in Macedonia people had a chance to learn how to cook from recognized chefs. The profit from the sold vouchers is now reinvested in the students’ chefs by delivery of a special program for their better transition to the labor market (they learn from experts how to post on Instagram, how to ping role models on Twitter, how to write CV and conduct job interview etc.)
The “Youth Voice” Regional Campaign (2014-15) The Campaign (Supported by UNFPA EECARO) aimed to ensure that young people are placed in the center of the future national and global development agenda, and the post-2015 process.
“Youth Professional Kitchen: New Technologies for social business” (2013-14) This project was awarded with UNDP grant “Youth Social Entrepreneurship Support”. The project was done in partnership with the State School for Gastronomy, NGO “Youth Can”, Municipality of Center and few private companies.
UK Campaign “What is Social Enterprise” (2013) As part of one of ARNO’s Founders Fellowship awarded from the British Embassy in Skopje, ARNO representative visited UK for short-professional stay, and in close relation with the local UK Social Enterprise- Social Enterprise Mark (United Kingdom)developed summer campaign. The goal of the summer campaign was to promote the concept of social entrepreneurship among the general UK public through interactive tools.
Our organization seeks to nurture an inclusive and diverse work environment that accepts people from all ethnicities, religions, sexual orientations and gender identities who share the same values of mutual respect and responsibility. Who is ARNO? ARNO founders are bright and creative minds with philanthropic hearts. ARNO team is highly experienced in different industries and fields . All of our members hold specific skills and commitment for development and sharing of their skills. Irina Janevska (Founder and President at ARNO) holds extensive knowledge on Social Responsibility, and is recognized as National Expert for Social Entrepreneurship and creative community engagement. Working at the first national project that promotes SE (her former job at CIRa) and attracting great public attention to the concept, she was approached by the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy for her comments on the Final Proposal for the "National Legal Framework for Social Entrepreneurship in North Macedonia". In January 2018 Irina was invited to be the country representative to a Study Visit to Taiwan organized by the European Bank for Development and Reconstruction (EBRD) on the topic of “Development of Social Entrepreneurship in the Western Balkans” In the past years Irina is invited to share expertize at various events ( Speaker >Stakeholders presenting opportunities for lean startups, support and funding- “StartUp Europe Week Skopje - Supporting the Startup Community” February 2016, Skopje/ Jury member at the USAID Competition for Social Business Ideas among high schools at the territory of Skopje, organized by the Local Economic City Council, March 2016 etc.).” Irina is creative person with extensive international experience in the field of effective community engagement. In her career she has been contracted at management positions and worked on different projects supported by: UNFPA, UNDP, MTV Staying Alive, The British Embassy in Skopje etc. Irina holds BA in Communications Sciences and MA in Cultural Studies.
